A Park Manor home where Al Capone lived in the 1920s and which was owned by his family until the 1950s has sold less than two months after going on the market and for twice the asking price.
The Prairie Avenue home in Park Manor went on the market in early February after its former owner lost it to foreclosure. The asking price was $109,900. It sold on April 5 for $226,000, according to Midwest Real Estate.
Ryan Smith, an agent with Re/Max Properties who represented the home for MTGLQ Investors, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs, confirmed that the buyers were investors, not end users, and said he did not know their plans for the property. He also said that multiple offers had been received on the home, and that many of them were investor offers.
