Rumble at Montrose Beach

An aggressive crowd assembled for The Tamborazo Beach Party concert near Montrose Beach on Sunday resulting in four injured officers and a damaged squad car.

At around 7:30 p.m. six officers on bikes made their way through the crowd to control a fight that had broken out. Word quickly spread a man with a gun was on the loose.

Police called for assistance and evacuated Montrose Beach and the surrounding area. The crowd went into a frenzy and began throwing bottles and trash everywhere.

“I’ve never been so scared in my life,” Anne Killarney, 25, Chicago local recalls after being evacuated from a bar at Montrose Harbor.

Despite the debacle Killarney said, “The police did a great job getting there quickly, efficiently and breaking up the fight.”

With at least 10 people arrested felony chargers are pending for two men for aggravated battery to a police officer and two others face charges of aggravated assault to a police officer. Six more face an array of other offenses.
