Crime Map: July 24 – 30

1. A 40-year-old man was shot in injured in Wicker Park on the North Side early Sunday morning. According to police, the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when an unidentified male shooter attacked him and opened fire at around 1 a.m. on Sunday. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left arm. He was listed in stable condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

2. An 18-year-old was killed in a South Chicago neighborhood on Sunday morning. The victim was shot multiple times in the 8100 block of South Manistee Avenue at around 9 a.m. on Sunday. According to police, the victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he died.

3. A 32-year-old was injured in New City in what appears to be a drive-by shooting. According to police, the victim was in the 700 block of West 48th Street when he was shot at by shooters from an unidentified vehicle at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in stable condition with injuries to the leg.

4. A 22-year-old man was shot in Ashburn Sunday afternoon. According to police, the victim was shot in the 8000 block of South Washtenaw Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was shot in the arm and hand, but was able to drive to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

5. A 42-year-old was shot during an attempted robbery in Fernwood at around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday. The man injured was working at a retail store when he was shot in the 7900 block of West 103rd Street. During the attempted robbery the victim was held at gunpoint and the robber demanded money from the clerk. The two broke into a physical struggle and left the employee with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and leg. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and listed in serious condition. According to police, no arrests have been made regarding the incident and it’s unclear if the robber made off with any money or goods.

6. A 22-year-old was shot in the Avalon Park neighborhood at around 6:05 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was on the sidewalk in the 7900 block of South Stony Island Avenue where he reported he was shot in the leg. According to police, no further details were made available or arrests have been made. The victim was listed in fair condition at Advocate Trinity Hospital.

7. A 16-year-old was killed in the Little Village neighborhood Sunday night. Police first reported the teen was 15, but according to the coroner’s report the victim David Moreno was 16. Moreno suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body in the 2800 block of South Keeler Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday. According to authorities, a vehicle approached Moreno when he was shot multiple times and tried to flee by foot from the attack.
8. A 24-year-old was shot in Englewood at around 11:55 p.m. on Sunday. According to authorities, the victim was on the sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Morgan Street when a shooter approached him on foot. The gunman shot him in the neck and fled the scene. No arrests have been made yet involving this shooting and the victim was listed in serious condition.

9. A 28-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the hand at the stroke of midnight in the South Chicago neighborhood on Monday. The victim was standing in the 8100 block of South Muskegon Avenue when a vehicle drove up on him firing shots and hitting him in the hand. The man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

10. A 24-year-old was shot on the South Side minutes after it became Monday. According to authorities, the victim was standing on the sidewalk in the 8500 block of South Escanaba Avenue when the shooter approached him on a bike and opened fire. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was listed in good condition after suffering gunshot wounds to the upper and lower back.

11. A 23-year-old man suffered gunshots to the chest early Monday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood. According to authorities, the victim was shot in the 2300 block of West 19th Street on the South Side while he was driving his vehicle at around 1:55 a.m. The shooter shot at the vehicle multiple times and hit the man in the chest. The victim was listed in serious condition in Mount Sinai Hospital.

12. A 19-year-old man was shot in the Morgan Park neighborhood early Monday morning. At around 2:35 a.m. Monday the victim was seated in a parked car when he was shot at in the 1700 block of West Montvale Avenue. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
