Chicago Crime Map: March 2 – 5

1. A 28-year-old was killed while attempting to break into a home around 1:20 p.m. in Avalon Park on Tuesday. The man, now identified as Antinino Walker, was not alone when he attempted to break into a 24–year-old’s home in the 8000 block of South Dante Avenue. According to police, a 20-year-old man was also along for the crime, but when confronted with the resident of the home, shots were fired and both the 24-year-old and 20-year-old were shot and injured. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and Walker was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital around 9:17 p.m. on Tuesday.

2. A 34-year-old woman was injured in Marynook, at around 3:55 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police. The woman was shot in the leg in the 8600 block of South Stony Island Avenue early Wednesday morning. The woman walked herself to Jackson Park Hospital, where updates of her condition are still unknown.

3. A 22-year-old man was involved in a gang-related shooting at about 10:40 p.m. in Englewood on Tuesday, according to police. On his way home, a four-door SUV pulled up in front of his home in the 700 block of West 73rd Street yelling gang slogans and firing shots at the man. Luckily the gun shot wounds were not fatal and the 22-year-old only suffered a flesh wound to the chin, according to police.
The man involved in the shooting was a gang member, according to police. No other information or arrests to the case have been made.

4. A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg in Garfield Park at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim was shot in the 100 block of South Pulaski Tuesday, according to police. He suffered a gunshot wound to the lower leg and was listed in serious condition at the hospital, according to authorities.

5. A 47-year-old man was shot in the 5400 block of West Madison Avenue at around 2:11 p.m. on Monday. According to police, the man was shot in the shoulder and he took himself to get care from West Suburban Medical Center where he was listed in good condition.

6. A 17-year-old boy was killed and a 23-year-old injured in gunfire at around 7:47 p.m. on Monday near 106th street. The 17-year-old victim, identified as Deonte M. Hoard, was pronounced dead while the 23-year-old suffered a grazed head wound. According to police shots were fired at the two from a black SUV in the 10600 block of South Yates Avenue.

7. A 28-year-old woman was injured at around 12:35 a.m. on Monday while walking in the Gage Park, according to police. The woman was walking in the 2700 block of West 55th Street when two attackers opened fire on her and her brother. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to the ear. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where her condition has stabilised.
